The tick of the clock sounded incredibly loud as she struggled to come up with a single positive thing about herself.

I don’t know how it happened, but it seemed that God was speaking to me. There, in the same block that I was in, was a man with a head full of gray hair who spoke and behaved like me. I was only 19 years old. God told me, “this is you, if you even live this long. Do you want to be this? If not, you have to change your life starting today, while you are still in here.”

Give the gift of tolerance for Christmas

Tolerance… Merriam Webster’s definition is: “Sympathy or indulgence for beliefs or practices differing from or conflicting with one’s own; the act of allowing something.”

I have been thinking a lot about tolerance lately. Our society seems to be lacking this virtue these days. From the #Black Lives Matter movement to our political and religious landscapes, our world seems to be in short supply of tolerance.
